Connections parent coffee time

 In News, Uncategorized

Our last session invited parents to pop in and look at some of our Story sacks and books including dual language books that we are happy to lend out. We offered information on ways of sharing books and stories with your child, that really encourages their speech, language, and communication development. These also provide an opportunity to meet with Teresa our nursery SENCO and learn more about how you can help promote your child’s speech and language skills and ask her for any questions or advice.

Sharing stories with children is so important it helps them develop early literacy skills and learn about words and sounds to develop their speech. Storytime’s are a great way of bonding with your child and sharing special times together, where they can use their imagination too. Here at Wivenhoe Park, our parents are welcome to come in and read to the children, especially in your home language.

We invite children to bring in a favourite book to show and share.

We also offer our own book borrowing scheme! Where your child can borrow one of the books from our collection and receiving a sticker each time when it is returned. We really want to encourage sharing stories and the benefits it brings. Just check your books in and out at reception. We are also taking part in the Essex year of reading scheme.
