The Wildlife Trusts Big Wild Walk

 In News

Wivenhoe Park Day Nursery are delighted to let you know that we will all be taking part in the “Big Wild Walk 2022” for The Wildlife Trust charity. Our walk is due to take place over the week commencing on the 24th of October, you can help The Wildlife Trusts mission to restore and protect at least 30% of land and sea nature by 2030, to help tackle the nature and climate emergency.

We will be walking out in the University grounds to help educate the children about our local wildlife with factsheets and identification charts (provided by the Wildlife Trust). We will look at what trees and plants are growing and what animals are living nearby. With such a splendid environment offered to us here at the University of Essex we feel this is the perfect place to see what our local ecosystem has to offer.

With the Trust’s goal of 30% by 2030 they are asking us to walk a cumulative total of 30 kilometres. With all the rooms helping by walking even just one or two kilometres each day we think that together we can hit this target.

We don’t have access to the good old fashioned sponsor forms, but please can we encourage you to visit our sponsorship page to sponsor your child and donate to the cause. Any money donated goes directly to The Wildlife Trust who then send it to their local wildlife trust. The “Essex Wildlife Trust” handles many conservation projects in our local area including the Abberton Reservoir.
