Meet our Kitchen Manager, Harry

Hey there, I’m Harry, the culinary maestro behind the scenes at Wivenhoe Park Day Nursery. Since donning my Kitchen Manager hat in September, I’ve fallen head over heels for the nursery. Teamwork makes the dream work, and I’ve found the perfect partner in crime with Maxine, our Kitchen Chef extraordinaire!

My goal is to bring our own ideas and develop a menu that produces seasonal and nutritious homemade dishes for all the children here at Wivenhoe Park. During my early days at the nursery, I spent time enhancing my understanding of the different nutritional factors that need careful consideration when planning and feeding young children to support them to thrive both physically and mentally.  This knowledge is demonstrated throughout our menus. I think I have finally learned the names of all the staff who I often recruit as ‘taste testers’ for my menu ideas and I am fast becoming a familiar face for the children too (It might take me a little longer to learn ALL their names).  Many of them are learning my name and I enjoy stopping and having a chat with them as they pass me in the corridors or when I call into their rooms.

Before my culinary adventures at Wivenhoe, I spent my days in educational catering, rocking the kitchen at a bustling boarding school in Ipswich. Now, I’ve landed my dream job here at the nursery, and I’m beyond excited to whip up some culinary magic for our little VIPs.

Want a taste of what I’ve got cooking? Keep your eyes peeled for our nursery events—I and Maxine might just surprise you with some delightful bites. And hey, I’m all ears (and taste buds) for any questions you might have. Got a dietary concern? Let’s chat—I’m all about crafting a menu that suits everyone.

Can’t wait to meet you and share the joy of good food with the Wivenhoe Park family! 🌟
